Dubbed as "The lovechild of fiona apple and florence and the machine" by producer, dan weiner

NOWA was formed in 2016, after singer-songwriter and lead singer/bassist of NOWA, Lindsey Novakovic, drifted from her previous music project, Lindsey Mae (2003-2015), taking a sharp shift in music styles. NOWA's fresh sound draws inspiration from her deep love for 90’s alternative and rock artists like Fiona Apple, Foo Fighters and Incubus. Her debut EP, The Folly (released 01/27/18), showcases her hooks and lyrical poeticism (and love for writing and composing music in less common time signatures).

Vocals, Bass / NOWA
Guitar / Vishnu Thyagarajan of Night Patrol
Keyboard / Pauline Pisano of Vital E.

Our History

NOWA front-woman Lindsey Novakovic has been performing in NYC and the Northeast for over ten years under previous stage name, Lindsey Mae, at venues like: Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), The Living Room (NYC), Piano's (NYC), The Local 269 (NYC), the Canal Room (NYC), IOTA Club (D.C.), The Middle East Club (Boston), Club Passim (Boston).

Novakovic's shift in music direction led to the formation of NOWA in late 2016; the band has been performing together since early 2017, playing Friday and Saturday nights at New York City venues like Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1 and The Delancey.

NOWA draws anywhere from 25 to 65 people to their shows. They're currently looking to book evening gigs, any day Tuesday through Sunday (needing about 4 weeks notice), and  preferably looking to be paired up with/to open for like-artists to help expand their draw between more venues.
